The Original ID is used for organisations that have multiple sites using the same database. This is the same number used by an employee who may have been employed at multiple sites throughout the organisation.
The employee will hold a different ID number for each employed site but the Original Id number will be the same for each site. The ID number created at the time the employee was first employed also becomes their Original ID number.
As they move to different sites within the organisation structure, the Search and Link Hire option is used to find the employee, link them to the Original ID number and create a new ID number.
The concept of the Original ID is to allow users to report across the entire organisation's database and check for Compliancy Details. Users will only be able to access employees included in their security profiles.
The Apex organisation holds the database for three of its sites (i.e. Apex Southern, Apex Northern, Apex Mid West).
Max Jones is employed at Apex Northern and Apex Mid West. When first employed at Apex Northern, he was assigned an ID number of 8755, which became his Original ID number.
When employed at Apex Mid West, the Search and Hire option is used to search for Max in the main database and when found links his Original ID number 8755 for Apex Northern to his Original ID number in Apex Mid West and creates a new ID number for Apex Mid West.
To use this option, Position 14 of Program Control option TFR must be set to Y.
