Preceda Access
This window defines further the rules about access to specific objects/ windows within modules. For instance, full Change access may have been set on the Define Access Profiles window for the PAYROLL module, but there are some processes in this Module which are not required for this User. The access to these processing screens can be removed using this window. Alternatively, access to a Module can be Excluded on the Define Access Profiles window while access to a selected few activities from this Module can be configured on this window.

Rules and Guidelines
- Alterations to the Access profile at this level will override those setup at the higher level (e.g. while access to modules are generally excluded, this window can be used to allow entry to one object within the module).
- This window displays the Access profile, the Module Name and any Access Privilege already granted to this Access Profile.
- The visibility of Activities under the Dayforce HCM Module and Control Panel HCM Module is dependent on Prevar *PP_AHCM_ACTIVE Position 1. If configured to Y, the Activities are displayed.
-
T000218 Retrospective Time Editor - Current Period: When added to a user's Access Profile, the user can then enter prior dated records into Time Editor/Allowances current period. Once approved to the correct level, it will trigger retro to run automatically and generate the required retro transactions to support the entry.
- The Console, Extractor and Report Manager are accessed through icons on the Preceda Desktop.
- Extractor Report Designer is accessed from the Extractor option. Access to these icons is granted through Preceda security.
- To control the access to these options, use the filter on Preceda Access window to select the Utilities module records.
- Extractor Desktop
To grant access to Extractor options, set the "Use Access" field to Y. This will enable the Extractor icon on the User's main window. - Extractor Design
To make use of the Extractor options, the following Access Levels can be set: - This security controls the extraction of data in report form. It does not allow the addition, alteration or deletion of the actual data.
- This security controls the extraction of data in report form. It does not allow the addition, alteration or deletion of the actual data.
- Note that a further level of security on the alteration and deletion of extracts can be imposed by the Extractor Object Manager.
- Maintain Report Server
If set to Y, this enables the Browse button to be accessed when the user selects Extractor's output option of Crystal in the report format PDF. This enables the user to access the Report Server to Upload, Download and potentially Delete reports from the Report Server. The ability to carry out these functions should be restricted to selected users. - Report Manager Desktop
To give the Access Profile access to the Report Manager function, set Use Access to Y which will enable the Report Manager icon on the user's main window. When Access Profiles have been defined, the next step is to Link the User to the Access Profiles. - Report Designer
This allows a user who already has access to Extractor to access and use the report Designer function. - Console
If set to N, the user will not have access to the Console icon on the desktop. - Access to Releasing Express Payments
If there is a user setup with Use Access to the Payroll module in their Access Profile, they will be unable to Release Express Payments unless the Update Access field is set to Y for Activity ID X000734 in Preceda Access. - Control Access to the TO DO LIST
The To Do List that is displayed on the Navigator is used specifically for users who approve Leave Applications online.
By default, all users have the To Do List displayed on the Navigator.
If users don't approve Leave Applications online, the function is of no use to them so it may be appropriate to remove it.
This is done by removing access to the Activity ID M000994 for the Preceda Access which is attached to the user's Access Profile. - Control Access to Public Favourite Setup
When Public Favourites are setup, they must be linked to a Preceda Group Profile, and that profile subsequently linked to a user in the Define Users window to allow the user access to view.
By default, all users have the Organise Public Favourites option available to them in the Tools Menu.
As this is a function that requires high security levels to complete, it may be appropriate to remove the ability to Organise Public Favourites from the Tools menu.
This is done by removing access to the Activity ID M000981 for the Preceda Access that is attached to the user's Access Profile. - Link Users to Access Profiles
Ensure Access Profiles are setup before continuing.
On the Define Users window, enter the established Access Profile in the Access Profile field and save the record.
Next time the user signs on, they have access only to the defined Access Profile.
Each user can be linked to only one Access Profile, although many users may be linked to one Access Profile.
If, at any time, an Access Profile is changed at the module level, it automatically resets all the Preceda Access records beneath.
Use Access | Allow the use of previously created Extracts to which the user's Access profile has been granted. |
Add Access | Allow the user to create Extracts. |
Update Access | Allow the user to alter previously created Extract to which the user's Access profile has been granted. |
Delete Access | Allow the user to delete previously created Extracts to which the user's Access Profile has been granted. |
