Base Hours Code

The Base Hours Code screen caters for variations in the employee's work hours and are used to calculate employee's pay.

Hours can be varied for specific days to cater for employees whose daily work hours vary, for employees who have rostered days off, or for part time employees who only work on specific days.

This window determines the number of hours an employee works each week and is used by the payroll for calculating an hourly rate when the employee's pay rate is not stored as an hourly rate (e.g. employees on a Payrate Frequency of Monthly or Annual).

Rules and Guidelines

  • A Base Hours Code must be specified in each employees Payment Details option.
  • Consider how the employee will accrue RDO for part days worked.
  • Consider how the employee will be paid for RDO by current rate of pay or rate of pay at which the RDO was accrued.
  • Consider how many hours should be paid for an RDO payment.
  • When an employee's Hire Date (or Multiple Role Start Date) and the Allow/Deduct Start Date are both within the current period, the later of the two dates is to be used. The payment, however, should not commence before the employee's start date.
  • When an existing Base Hours Code record is updated and the Base Hours field value has been changed, a check will be performed when Save is clicked to determine is the Code is currently in use against any employee.
